History

This year the annual Romanian Festival organized by the Romanian-American Freedom Alliance (RAFA) will take place on Saturday, September 25,2022 from 11 am to 6 pm in Lakewood, Colorado. RAFA board members have secured the same venue Belmar Plaza, 433 S Teller Street, Lakewood, CO 80226. Our efforts in organizing this festival are trifold: to promote our rich history, traditions and culture, to strengthen our local Romanian community and, through the funds raised, to support those less fortunate back in Romania. Given that the festival has not been held for the last three years and we have a new location, our focus this year is to revive this main event that brings Romanians and other nationalities from all over Colorado together by a creating a festival program that is more attractive. In addition to having the traditional folk groups perform, RAFA is working on several new projects including obtaining a liquor license and contracting with local and out of state artists to perform live traditional and folk music. Of course, all these new efforts bring additional costs which impact the funds raised and ultimately our organization’s ability to make a difference and bring relief to needy families and children in Romania. Dear friends of the Romanian-American Community, Behind the scene, the RAFA board and volunteers are tirelessly working to organize the 24th edition of our organization's signature event-our annual Romanian Festival.
